Peter Gilchrist Wins the 2024 QLD Open Billiards

Congratulations to Peter Gilchrist on winning the 2024 Queensland Open Billiards Championship and defeating our recently adopted Queenslander in Robbie Chilcott. Peter also scored the highest break of the tournament with a 249 break.

A big thank you to Jason Colebrook and Belinda Dinga who first raised the idea of Peter Gilchrist attending and then continuing on to make it happen.

Thanks to the Redcliffe Snooker Club and their members for hosting the Tournament. It is very much appreciated that members gave up their club facilities so the tournament could be held.

Thanks to all the players from far and wide who played and helped make this tournament the success we hoped it could be and we hope they return again next year.

Special Thanks to the Tournament Director Graham Baker, Referee Director Des Turner (OAM) as well as the following referees Adrian Hands, Shuangyu Jia, Yiying (Tricis) Liv, Fei (Faye) Wang, Steve Springer, Geoff Lorkin, Alice Wu and Glenn Wallace(NSW).

Graham’s handling of the tournament to keep it running to schedule was much appreciated by all concerned.

Congratulations to Shuangyu Jia who refereed the final. Well done and keep up the good work.

Referees provide a great service to the players in refereeing games for little recompense and their efforts are much appreciated by all players and the QBSA board.

Unfortunately, the live streaming of the final was interrupted due to a few technical difficulties for which we apologise, and will endeavour to overcome for future events.
